Duke Un-Rape Charges

From Breitbart. Alright so without any evidence of rape (the Burlington Labs had no DNA on the three alleged, but did have DNA from several men), the victim in this case now changes her story, saying she doesn't know if she was raped. The DA, Mr. Nifong, has dropped the rape charge, saying that without the DNA his only leg to stand on was the victim's statement. Now that all changes. The charges of kidnapping and sexual assault still stand though. Either way, both charges carry the same sentence of 24 years.
Now, if she has given a statement to the police and the DA and now recants that statement, saying that she can't be certain if she was raped, can we really believe anything that she says. Her story has changed almost a dozen times and the number of attackers has gone from 3 to 20. Now if this woman was truly attacked, then throw the book at whoever did it, but if not, then these three should sue for libel. They have been drug through the mud and found guilty by the drive-by-media, and their names aren't worth anything now. One of the problems here in this case is Mr. Nifong himself who is now saying "no media", but ole Nifong ran for re-election as DA on this case. I agree with Duke President Richard Brodhead who today called for Nifong to step aside and turn this case over to independent counsel:
"The district attorney should now put this case in the hands of an independent party, who can restore confidence in the fairness of the process," Brodhead said in a statement Friday. "Further, Mr. Nifong has an obligation to explain to all of us his conduct in this matter."
The truth in this case needs to come to light and the guilty tried, but I am afraid that Nifong is incapable of that.
